Cebel-cur is the oldest known name of Bingöl. Cebel Berg means fluent cur. This word was probably pronounced as Çabakçur over time. Çabakçur already means clean water.
According to Evliya Çelebi, this name was given by Alexander the Great. Legend has it that Alexander the Great was not cured by much excruciating pain in his body, although he had asked many doctors to do so. So Ab-Ul Hayat (immortal life) begins to search for water. After a long search, he drinks from the water and is relieved of excruciating pain, even if he has no source. He called this water "Çabakçur", which means "heavenly water" in "Makdis language". Allah left my doctors from the river of heaven, it hurt me that they couldn't find a cure. Make me a castle here and call it Çabakçur sheep. Later it appears in various sources as Ming Oil. Mingöl means the lake area. The word ming oil also means a thousand lakes that the public has pronounced bing oil over time.
