Igdir province in the Eastern Anatolia region of Turkey and the Republic of Turkey is a province in the east.
If the irregularity of the rain regime and the excess of evaporation contribute to the low annual precipitation, we can see the importance of irrigation on the plain in agriculture. To make irrigation more complete, it was divided into two sections: the Iğdır level, the Batı Iğdır level and the Doğu Iğdır level, and irrigation projects were started.
The Iğdır (Shalagi) Apricot, this world famous apricot variety that only grows in the Iğdır and Kağızman region, is elliptical and symmetrical in structure. Since the seeds are long and sweet, they can be eaten in the form of walnuts. As it is an early variety, it begins to ripen in the last week of June. The Shalak variety, the most common apricot variety from Iğdır, is known to have many advantages.
