Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB)
Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) is located south of Izmir and was named after Adnan Menderes, a former prime minister. The airport is used mainly by Pegasus Airlines, SunExpress, Turkish Airlines and tourist charter flights.
Izmir is the third largest city in Turkey with about 4 million inhabitants, the second largest port after Istanbul and a very good transport hub. The fact that nearly half of the 4 million inhabitants are under 30 years of age makes Izmir a city full of life. The city is home to tens of thousands of university students, educating scientists, artists, business leaders and academics. It is a fast growing city on the Central Aegean coast of Turkey.
Izmir is now a modern, developed, tourist and busy commercial center, situated around a huge bay and surrounded by mountains. The wide boulevards, glass-fronted buildings and modern shopping centers are dotted with traditional red-tiled roofs and old mosques and churches, although the city has more of a Mediterranean feel than traditional Turkey.
