Madrid Barajas Airport (MAD)

Madrid Barajas Airport (MAD), Spain's largest airport is located on the outskirts of Madrid, a city of 3.2 million inhabitants. The airport was named Adolfo Suárez Madrid Barajas Airport, in tribute to Spain's first democratically elected prime minister. It is the main hub for the national airline Iberia and Air Europa. In addition, Ryanair offers many connections to and from Madrid Barajas Airport.

Madrid, city, capital of Spain and of the province of Madrid. The Spanish arts and financial center, the city and the province form a comunidad autónoma in central Spain.

Madrid is a city of contrasting styles and clearly reflects the different periods of change and development. A maze of small streets surrounding a few squares near the imposing Plaza Mayor, the Old Town contrasts with the stately neoclassical buildings and grand boulevards created by the most eminent architects of their time. Modern office buildings in the center and strips of apartment blocks on the edge testify to the styles and economic reality of contemporary development.
